Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) este inca la inceput in Afirca, dar centrele de contact ale pietei din Sudul Africii incep sa se dezvolte acum. In Kenya este de asteptat ca 30 000 persoane sa aiba slubje din sectorul BPO. Guvernul Kenyan transforma Colegiul Kenya de Tehnologia Comunicatiei intr-un centru specializat de BPO pentru a educa tinerii din acea tara si pentru a-i introduce in industrie.Guvernul se asteapta ca schimbari majore sa aiba loc in economia tarii cu ajutorul industriei de outsourcing, ei spera sa castige pesre 200 milioane$ pana in 2013.Suprematia in industria BPO este detinuta de India, iar alte tari din Africa cum ar fi Nigeria, Ghana, Egipt sau Africa de Sud sunt considerate a fi rivale cu industria de outsourcing a Kenyei.Managerul Cascage Global, Peres Were, o firma locala specializata in dezvoltarea afacerilor de BPO, a spus ca interesul pentru acest sector creste rapid."Compania este infiintata abia de 2 ani si deja a construit 10 firme de BPO. In acest moment ne extindem in Uganda. De asemenea furnizam servicii de consultanta pentru un numar de companii europene care vor sa-si deschida centre de contact in Kenya".Dar cele mai mari probleme pentru o firma pe care trebuie sa le infrunte in Kenya este costul prea mare al internetului si siguranta. Ken-Tech Data, o firma de BPO infiintata acum 10 luni care opereaza in acest sistem, spune ca ei cheltuiesc 24 000 Shilingi pe luna pentru o conexiune nesigura si inceata.Guvernul incearca sa subventioneze costurile pentru internet al sectorului acesta, pentru accesare mai ieftina a internetului.
